Welcome to the Marble Replacement Center

The MRC, or Marble Replacement Center, is the setting of my first Sims 2 challenge: the Asylum Challenge. I'm by no means an expert Simmer, but I'm going to give it my best shot. Mostly, I'm thrilled at the prospect of broadening my horizons in the game because I always tend to play the same sorts of sims in the same sorts of situations. If I can manage this one, I'm on to the prosperity challenge next. Wish me luck!

Page - Round 1

The Pages Are:

Julie Page, Adult Family Sim, LTW Reach Golden Anniversary

As you may have noticed, Julie's LTW is to reach her golden anniversary. But before she could have an anniversary, she needed a boyfriend who would quickly become a husband. Since she didn't have time to screw around, she paid the gypsy matchmaker the cool five thousand simoleons. Her first match was a little old for her tastes, but the second time, the gypsy got it just right. This is Juan Reamon. He really has no choice about marrying Julie. She's very hard-headed when her mind is made up.

As you can see, he wants to marry Julie but also fears it. Juan, you're smarter than I gave you credit for.

I gotta tell you, though, what Julie wants, Julie gets.

And right now, you're what Julie wants.

She started off small, asking him to move in. Once he said yes, it was trifling to get the rest.

What man could resist accepting a proposal from a woman in her underwear? Juan said yes, happily.

Though it seems he never got rid of that nagging worry.

Juan happily came both employed and with some bronze talent badges. Not bad, friend.

Chance card!

Darn. You're going to need that science enthusiasm, Juan!

Man, nothing is safe from that fall lightning, is it?

Julie couldn't stand to see that much money going up in flames. Good job, girly.

The slightly improved front of the house with a giant tree added.

Juan needed some creativity points, so I bought him a violin. I've never seen sims play these before. Pretty cute.

When he was done working on his creativity, I gave him a makeover. He looks half-decent now that that awful jawline is covered up.

Juan's welcome home surprise. Is anyone else ever worried this will blow over to the house? I do. I do with burning leaf piles too.

Uh oh...

Bloop!

Yes, it's true, Julie is preggers. Good job being fertile, sweetie.

I'm glad you feel that way, honey, because there's not much to be done about it now.

Juan's LTW is to become Captain Hero. He quit his business job to join the police force and is going well. So far, so good!

Bloop!

Julie had to entertain herself somehow, so she worked on making toys for the upcoming baby.

Juan gets another promotion, yay!

That can't be good.

Juan> "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO ABOUT IT!?!?!?!"

And baby makes three!

Aww, I love this shot in the cinematic. He's got his mama's skin tone and his daddy's eye color. Doesn't look like Juan's hair color, though, so I'm not sure where he got that.

Juan> "Yay, a baby!"

Meet Eleanor Page, first child of Juan and Julie Page. She sure looks like a cutie.

Stay tuned for Janie in her little bachelorette pad down the road.

Bloopers:

Wow, you really aren't a brainiac, are you, Juan?

Gross? No shit!?

Johnson - Round 1

The Johnsons are:

Abby Johnson, Adult Knowledge Sim, 2nd LTW Become Game Designer
Jared Johnson, Adult Fortune Sim, LTW Become Criminal Mastermind

Jared wants to be a Criminal Mastermind! Sweet. He's got the hair and tats for it.

Thanks to Abby's time trying to fulfill her LTW at the asylum, she's racked up enough aspiration reward points to totally max out her benefits panel. When I rolled a second aspiration for her, she got knowledge again, so yay, say hello to annoying grilled cheese sim #1 for Strangetown.

Now that she's maxed all of her skills, she wants to be a game designer. Not what I would have guessed, but go for it, chica!

Oh look at that, Jared, you've got a natural talent for crime. Congrats?

Abby and Jared love their new kitchen because I tell them to. It's fabulous. Note the forced grilled cheese meal thanks to Abby's newest obsession.

Aw, they are so cute. And also trying for baby. Abby hopes the fancy clothes will get her new hubby in the mood.

And there's no rest for the weary. The next morning, she's up looking for a job in her field. No such luck today, so she seeks out her hubby.

Abby> "So Jared, there's this perfect moment, you know? When the bread is medium brown and crispy and buttery and the cheese is just melted enough to be gooey without leaking out the sides..."

Jared> "I swear to god, Abby, if you say "gooey enough to leak out the sides" one more time, I'm leaving you!

Despite the horrifying imagery, Jared snags another promotion. Good job, breadwinner! About time you stopped mooching off your formerly crazy wife.

Screw you, greedy boss! Next time, we'll just lie to you.

But at least you didn't deny my boy his well-deserved promotion. Jared, that hair does not go with that suit at all.

Abby, do you really think that's a wise decision?

Abby> "Come on, I've been abducted before. It's not like it's a big deal. Why do I have this power if not to use it? I want to test the effects of melted cheese on aliens."

Well, now you've gone and done it.

Not so fun looking when there's a space shuttle ready to suck you into the bowels, is it?

Don't give me that look. You brought this on yourself.

*Six Hours Later*

Watch that first step, it's a doozy.

He didn't even miss you when you were gone, you know. Don't be fooled by that enthusiasm.

Abby and Jared weren't having any luck in the baby-making arena, so I let them adopt a dog. Webster's cute and needs a home.

Poor little guy was starving!!

So he's dumb and lazy and messy. At least he's sweet!

Awwww...

Awww X2. He loves his mama and his mama's bed.

It must be gratitude for being adopted off the street, but Webster follows Abby and Jared everywhere.

He'll only sleep in his dog house when neither of them are in bed. Sweet little guy.

That's it for the first round of the Johnsons. Stay tuned for Julie.
